Most patients with varicose veins have leaky valves and weak walls in their veins which allow blood to pool in their legs. The abnormal pressure and volume of this pooling blood leads to the dilation of the veins. In order to evaluate patients with this condition, an ultrasound study is performed to determine what, if any, treatment is necessary.

Until recently, the only way to eliminate this abnormal blood flow was to perform surgery. Now, a new office-based procedure using the Endolaser Vein System (ELVeS) can be performed safely and effectively without anesthesia and without surgical scars.

Small veins on the face usually occur around the nose, cheeks or chin. Some of the causes of these veins are age, heredity, smoking, sun and wind damage. These small veins on the face respond well to laser treatment. The CoolTouch Varia Laser is able to treat these small capillaries without damaging the skin. This laser is versatile so it can be used to treat some of the slightly larger, but thin veins around the sides of the face and forehead. It can also be safely used for hair removal- even in patients with a darker complexion to their skin.
